Hello, world!

There are a lot of things that I’ve never done in my life. I’ve never been seen the film Casablanca, I’ve never been skydiving and I’ve never written a blog post. So hold on to your hat, strap in your seatbelt and bear with me as I muddle through something that should resemble an introductory blog post.

We are Jack and Baz, a couple living and working in Oxford who love exploring, eating and cycling. We want to use this blog to document our adventures and hopefully inspire others to have an adventure of their own. From cycling kit and suggested routes through to (hopefully not too many) stories of our disasters, we want to share it all.

We have decided to leave the working world and swap the cobbled streets of Oxford for European cycle paths this summer. We are currently preparing for a 3 month trip pedalling from the Netherlands to northern Spain on our tandem. We will start in early July by following the EuroVelo 15 cycle route up the Rhine from the Hook of Holland to Andermatt, in the Swiss Alps. From there we don’t really have a solid plan but we know we want to spend some time in northern Italy and then head towards Santander for our ferry home at the end of September.

We’re nervous, jobless and terrifyingly under-planned but, above all, we are unbelievably excited. This is our chance to escape a life built of familiar routines and leave our home and our comfort zone out of sight.
